A safe, affordable home gives families a place to settle, plan, and build their future. Yet for Loveland residents living in overcrowded or unsafe housing, or spending a large share of their income on rent, homeownership can feel out of reach.

Loveland Habitat for Humanity helps qualified local homebuyers take that step through a program built around affordability, preparation, and community participation.

Starting this October, Weedin Agency is supporting Loveland Habitat for Humanity through our referral program. For every referral received, our agency will donate $10 toward this cause.

BUILDING HOMES AND PREPARING HOMEOWNERS
Becoming a Habitat homeowner involves an active partnership. Each adult applicant accepted into the program completes 200 hours of “sweat equity.” These hours include work on construction sites, volunteering at the Loveland Habitat ReStore, and attending homeowner and financial management classes.

This hands-on approach allows future homeowners to contribute to the program while developing skills and knowledge to help them manage the responsibilities of owning a home. Since its founding in 1987, Loveland Habitat for Humanity has helped more than 150 local families build and own their homes.

KEEPING HOMEOWNERSHIP AFFORDABLE
The cost of owning a home matters long after moving day. At the time of sale, Habitat homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are capped at 30 percent of their household income.

The organization’s resale model also helps preserve affordability for future qualified buyers. This means the homes can continue contributing to Loveland’s affordable housing options when ownership changes.

A COMMUNITY EFFORT
Local support helps make this work possible. Volunteers contribute their time on construction sites and in the ReStore, while financial donations help support the homeownership program.

The ReStore offers another practical way to participate. Donating or shopping for gently used furniture, appliances, home goods, and building materials helps generate funding for Habitat’s work. An item you no longer need, or a purchase for your own home, can help support someone else’s path to homeownership.
