Does My Car Insurance Cover Rideshare Or Delivery Services? (Loveland, CO)

Car insurance and our new gig or sharing economy is a complex system of interactive pieces. Most car insurance policies specifically limit or exclude coverage for what we call Public or livery use of the vehicle, which is essentially delivering stuff for a fee or delivering people for a fee.
Unfortunately, the various organizations that do this are not really good at notifying their drivers that they may have huge gaps in coverage. There are ways to address this, which could involve a commercial auto policy or endorsement to your policy that will give back some limited coverage.
Three phases there: Phase one, you have an app on and you're looking for a job. If you have the endorsement, we have coverage. Phase 2 - Once you've accepted the job and phase 3, once you are actually carrying someone or something, are usually still excluded from the policy and you will rely exclusively on whatever coverage the rideshare network has chosen to purchase for you.
Choosing to work in any of these environments, while it might be lucrative and it might be flexible for your schedule, can often be a challenge to get the coverage right while you're doing these things.
